The Crossville Scarecrow Festival and Car Show is coming back for its fourth year on Oct. 14, 2017. The free community event will take place in downtown Crossville from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Last year, more than 1,000 people attended, and organizers are planning for another big turnout this year.
Life Care Center of Crossville, which sponsors the festival, is now taking entry forms for the scarecrows, automobiles and vendor booths. “We want to encourage people to start conceptualizing their scarecrows,” said Jean Bennett, business development director at Life Care Center of Crossville. Scarecrows can be designed by individuals or by families and businesses. The Best in Show winner of the scarecrow contest will receive $100, and the People’s Choice winner will receive $50. Plaques will be presented to the winners in each category (Business, Family and Mechanical).
Trophies for the car show will be awarded in nine categories, including Rat Rod, Best of Show and People’s Choice. The festival will support Alzheimer’s Tennessee, Inc., through the $10 entry fees for scarecrows and vehicles.
