Bon Iver’s journey from indie-folk favorite to sold-out arenas

The influential indie-folk group Bon Iver broke out in 2012, winning Grammy awards for both best new artist and best alternative album. CBS News remembers Chris Raine and Chris Myers

CBS News is grieving, after the loss of two of our colleagues: Chris Raine and Chris Myers. Raine was an editor in our London bureau since the 1980s. He died at the age of 62 after a long fight with cancer. Myers was the deputy chief of our Los Angeles bureau. A veteran journalist, he enjoyed working with students and wanted to teach the next generation how to be responsible journalists. His giving continues. Eight lives have been saved as a result of his decision to be an organ donor. Source

Late biographer Edmund Morris serves up a stirring final act with “Edison”

A monumental new biography of Thomas Edison is set to be released this week. The author is one of the greatest non-fiction writers of our time, Edmund Morris, who died this May at the age of 78, just after the book was finished. “Edison”, a colossal work of research and writing, is a raw and unflinching look at a man whose inventions have shaped nearly every aspect of modern life.
