President Trump is getting bashed again for repeating a comment about Jewish Americans. He told White House reporters Wednesday that any Jewish person who votes Democratic is being “disloyal.” it was the second day in a row Mr. Trump questioned the “loyalty” of Jews, a type of attack that anti-Semites often use. Millions could be declared stateless as India appears to be cracking down on Muslims

A crisis is brewing in India after the Hindu majority government launched a campaign to list all legal residents living in the Assam state. Millions of people, mostly Muslims, were left off that list, and they have until August 31st to prove they’re citizens. “The 1619 Project”: Nikole Hannah-Jones on confronting the truth about slavery

In a special new issue, the New York Times magazine is launching a series called “The 1619 Project.” It marks the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in the colony of Virginia. The series examines the ways the legacy of slavery continues to shape America and “aims to reframe American history” to place “the consequences of slavery and the contributions of black Americans at the very center of the story we tell ourselves about who we are.” The journalist behind the project, Nikole Hannah-Jones, joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss the project and why she hopes it will help Americans confront the truth about our own history. Former custodian returns to school as the principal

A Colorado educator who began his career as a custodian, is back in school this week, this time as the principal. Michael Atkins started his first semester as principal of Denver’s Stedman Elementary School, already familiar with the school system. For more than three decades, Atkins has been a student, janitor and teacher. As a young student, he did not see a future in education after experiencing racial discrimination in the classroom. That all changed when he realized he could inspire students to celebrate each other’s differences. Source
