Mayors call for bipartisan action after spate of mass shootings: “You lose trust in everything”

When gun violence erupts in America, the local mayor is often first to comfort families and try to heal the community. There have been more than 35,000 incidents of gun violence so far this year, blamed for more than 9,200 deaths. Of those, 261 are considered mass shootings. Adriana Diaz spoke to four mayors, one of whom had to respond to a massacre less than two weeks ago. They’re part of a growing bipartisan chorus of local politicians pushing Congress to take action on guns. Source

Carlos Santana on what we can learn from Woodstock 50 years later

Carlos Santana is a global music icon. The guitarist and his band first topped the charts with “Evil Ways” off their self-titled debut in 1969. Fifty years ago this weekend, Santana took the stage at Woodstock in Bethel, New York. At the time, he was an unknown musician. He won over the massive crowd with his guitar riffs and his band’s percussion. This year, he’s celebrating that historic performance and the 20th anniversary of his Grammy Award-winning album “Supernatural,” which includes the popular song, “Maria Maria.” Santana joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss his performance at the iconic festival and what we can learn from Woodstock today.
