Research links widely-used drugs to a higher risk of dementia

A recent study found some common drugs could increase the risk of dementia or dementia-like symptoms. The study discovered a nearly 50% increase in odds of dementia in people 55 and older who took anticholinergic medications. That type of drug is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including depression, symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, bladder control and insomnia. Dr. Tara Narula joins “CBS This Morning” to discuss the new research and potential risks. Source

Search underway for second suspect in California mass shooting

Police in Gilroy, California, are searching for a possible second suspect in a deadly mass shooting. Videos from the scene show chaos and confusion after gunshots at the popular Gilroy Garlic Festival Sunday night. Police shot and killed a gunman dressed in camouflage. Three other people died, including a 6-year-old boy, and at least 15 people were injured. Jamie Yuccas reports. Source

Trump slams Baltimore district as “rodent-infested mess”

President Trump is escalating his feud with one of the most prominent black members of Congress, Maryland Democrat Elijah Cummings. Over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called the president’s attacks against Cummings “racist.” But Mr. Trump said there was nothing racist in his words, and that Cummings is actually the racist.
