Avenatti charged with stealing money from Stormy Daniels

Michael Avenatti, the former attorney for adult film star Stormy Daniels, is accused of stealing $300,000 his client was owed for a book deal. According to court papers, Avenatti forged her signature and diverted her book advance. Paula Reid reports. Source

N.Y. lawmakers pass bill to let Congress obtain Trump’s tax returns

New York lawmakers gave final passage to legislation Wednesday that would allow President Trump’s state tax returns to be released to congressional committees that have, so far, been barred from getting the president’s federal filings. The Democrat-led Senate and Assembly both approved the measures Wednesday, sending them to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat. A spokesman has said the governor supports the principle behind the legislation but will review the bill carefully before deciding whether to sign it. Source

Sixth migrant child dies after crossing U.S. border

Probe into Ralph Northam’s yearbook photo deemed inconclusive

Lawyers who investigated how a racist photo appeared on Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam’s 1984 medical school yearbook page say he initially apologized to for being in the picture out of an abundance of caution, but he didn’t believe he was in the photo. Investigators on behalf of Eastern Virginia Medical School said Wednesday they couldn’t “conclusively determine” the identities of either person in the 35-year-old photo. Source
