Starting Monday, we’re investigating the lack of transparency in healthcare pricing along with our reporting partner Clear Health Costs for a three-part series called Medical Price Roulette. Public health expert worries e-cigarette panic is ruining “single biggest public health opportunity” in 120 years

Researchers are working hard to determine the cause of more than 500 reported cases of lung illness affecting e-cigarette users. But even before this outbreak, e-cigarettes divided the medical community. Public Health England describes e-cigarettes as “at least 95% less harmful than tobacco cigarettes” – a claim New York University professor David Abrams agrees with. Abrams tells “CBS This Morning” Tony Dokoupil why he’s concerned about what the current panic about e-cigarette safety could mean for public health. Source

More than 1,000 rescued from dangerous Texas flooding

Southeast Texas, home to about 6 million people, is officially a disaster area. A storm that exploded ashore more than 48 hours ago, has dumped more than 40 inches of rain in some areas. Hundreds of people were left stranded, including Janet Shamlian. Source

Peter Frampton looks back on his 1970 Madison Square Garden show

Grammy Award-winning guitarist Peter Frampton has been touring for 50 years but a sudden illness forced the 69-year-old to announce a farewell tour earlier this year. “CBS This Morning” co-host Anthony Mason joined Frampton backstage at Madison Square Garden for his final show at the iconic New York City venue.
