Dancer Judith Jamison, who directed the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater for more than two decades, died Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the age of 81. In this “Sunday Morning” report that originally aired August 11, 2019, on the occasion of the dance group’s 60th anniversary, correspondent Rita Braver talked with Jamison and her succeeding artistic director Robert Battle about the legacy of the innovative dancer and choreographer Alvin Ailey. A French village honors a U.S. soldier killed in WWII

Gerri Eisenhauer’s father, Private William Walters, died in World War II just a few months before she was born – killed in action in France, according to a brief telegram. Eisenhauer believed she would never learn what happened to her father, until she received word that the French village of Grez-sur-Loing was planning to pay tribute to Private Walters, to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of France.
