Every week on The High School Playbook, we break down high school basketball games from around the Upper Cumberland and talk to the coaches and players that play them. Coaches Adam West and Mike Buck join Larry Stone to talk about their games. We are also joined by Coaches Michael Dodgen, and Anthony Jones on this week’s High School Playbook.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who died in an overnight officer involved shooting in McMinnville. Officials said the incident happened around midnight Friday on the 1300 block of Chestnut Ridge Road. TBI officials said at least one officer shot and killed 34-year-old Clifford Kelley when he failed to comply with commands to drop a weapon. No officers suffered any injuries

This week, thousands of California residents have been watching nature threaten their homes and families. The wildfires around Los Angeles…just another reminder of the dangers that local governments must be ready for. And we’ve seen plenty of those in 2017. How prepared are we in the Upper Cumberland for the unexpected? Weather? Natural disaster? Something criminal? A plane crash. A major gas leak or chemical spill.

It’s Christmas time in Gainesboro! Jim Wilkerson & Sam Petty with the Jackson County Chamber sit down with Sheila Scruggs to talk about their upcoming Down Home Country Christmas, and all the Christmas activities going on in Gainesboro.

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry that gives presents to children worldwide, while spreading the word of God. Brenda Spain, has been volunteering with Operation Christmas Child for over 15 years. She sits down with Sheila Scruggs to talk about the ministry, and how you can get involved on today’s Happening In The Upper Cumberland.

MADD of the Upper Cumberland is holding a candlelight vigil Sunday Nov. 19th at 3pm at First Christian Church in Cookeville. Norris & Aline Skelley with MADD join Sheila Scruggs to discuss how the vigil helps the victims and families of drunk driving accidents.

The  Appalachian Center for Crafts Holiday Festival is coming up Nov. 17-19. Gail Gentry, Program Director for the Center, joins Sheila Scruggs to talk about the festival, and all of the wonderful activities that will be available for patrons to enjoy.
