Every week on The High School Playbook, we break down high school games from around the Upper Cumberland. This week we highlight and preview the season ahead for boys basketball across the Upper Cumberland. Meet the new Cookeville Cavaliers Head Coach Josh Heard as he talks the challenges of taking over a coaching program, and what he expects from his players this year. Stone Memorial Head Coach Neil Capps and several of his players join live to discuss their team going into this season of play. We also hear from Clay County, White County, and Monterey head coaches as we preview the season ahead for Upper Cumberland boys basketball on this week’s High School Playbook.

The challenges of being a modern day parent – the problems seem bigger, the pressure is greater, and the outside scrutiny is more intense. And maybe parents individually are driving themselves more than ever to be successful at one of the toughest jobs on Earth. As a new decade approaches, we continue our examination of modern parenting with local experts from The Stephens Center. Everyday in their efforts to prevent child abuse, they work with parents and see the stresses that are out there with kids. Dawn Raines is Executive Director of The Stephens Center. Lisa McAfee and Carla Thompson work one on one with parents.

Today In The Upper Cumberland: Parenting

Members of The Stephens Center discuss parenting Today In The Upper Cumberland.

You hear it so often – “If only my kids came with instructions.” Parenting, it’s always been a challenge, but today, that challenge seems more daunting than ever. Kids face different things in every day life, but so do you. We examine parenting as we approach a new decade, and we get help from The Stephens Center. In its work to prevent child abuse across the Upper Cumberland, 30 years of doing that, The Stephens Center teaches parenting classes and works daily to help parents meet the challenges. Dawn Raines serves as Executive Director of The Stephens Center. Working alongside Dawn are Lisa McAfee and Carla Thompson.
