Today In The Upper Cumberland: The Green Market

This week Randy Dodson shares the story of The Green Market and what it provides

When the weekend arrives, many Upper Cumberland neighbors hit the road for The Green Market – a downtown Cookeville event every weekend. What started as a farmer’s market has turned into so much more. But at its roots, it’s all about the land, and what it produces. And doing it with a nod to nature. For Randy Dodson – it’s a labor of love.

Today In The Upper Cumberland: Education Savings Accounts

TEA President Beth Brown discusses Governor Lee’s Education Savings Account Plan

The idea of vouchers took a step toward approval in the Tennessee Legislature this week. Governor Bill Lee’s Education Savings Account Plan received a 20-13 vote approval in the Tennessee Senate. Education Savings Accounts, or vouchers as they are more often called, provide parents with public money. Most often, the vouchers can be spent on private school education, but sometimes voucher recipients can use the money to fund supplies or educational services. The Tennessee Education Association, which represents teachers, opposes the voucher idea. Beth Brown is TEA President, and a teacher herself in Grundy County.
