Lilian Hargrove talks the teacher shortage in the US & what’s being done at home

Discouraged by colleagues. Unhappy with working conditions. Dissatisfaction with parents. Some of the reasons that more and more young people are turning away from education as a career. That’s leading to a coming teacher shortage across the United States. Here at home, work underway to help prevent this from becoming a crisis…led by Lillian Hartgrove of the Highlands Chamber. Lillian also chairs the state board of education, where she is leading work on the issue. The Chamber working with local school executives including Putnam County Director of Schools Jerry Boyd. What can be done? How big a factor does money play in this issue?

Carver Moore shares his love of history, & how Moore Historical Consulting began

Consultants are a common part of today’s business world. But you may not realize there are historical consultants. These are men and women – professional historians – for hire. American Historical Association notes there is a growing demand nationwide for historical consultants. So what do they do? Carver Moore began his historical consulting firm soon after graduating from Tennessee Tech in 2016. His work covers many areas of the Upper Cumberland.

State Senator Paul Bailey discusses the 111th General Assembly & its new topics.

Tuesday, lawmakers from across the Volunteer State will gather in Nashville as the 111th General Assembly will convene. There are a lot of new faces in Nashville – 28 new members in the House of Representatives. The 33 member Senate has four new members. Republicans hold super majorities in both bodies. How will this new legislature tackle issues? What are the issues that will make news over the next several months? We get a preview from State Senator Paul Bailey.
