It seems it grows almost every year in terms of the cultural impact – the way it involves so many of us at all levels. Dr. Arthur Banton is a Tennessee Tech Assistant Professor. One of his research areas is the history of sports.

University of Memphis’s Dr. James Whelan discusses the rise in gambling issues.

If you’ve watched sports on television in the last year, you understand the influence of sports betting on our society. As more and more states legalize sports gambling, you’re seeing it in your face more and more. Take, for example, the recent March Madness games. Dr. James Whelan is a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis. Memphis has established a gambling clinic ahead of what is becoming more and more an issue in the US.
