High School Playbook: White Co Lands In District Tournament With Win Over Stone Memorial

DeKalb County Tigers eliminated Macon County, fall short against Cannon County.

Every week on The High School Playbook, we break down high school games from around the Upper Cumberland. The White County Warriorettes are in the District Tournament Championship after knocking off Stone Memorial in overtime. Gracie Dodgen sent the game to overtime with her leaning three-pointer that she banked in as time expired, punctuating a fantastic stretch of games for her, as she scored a team-high 18 points in the win. The York Institute Dragons have taken massive steps in overall improvement as a team this season, despite their lack of depth, boasting one of the best top-to-bottom starting lineups in the Upper Cumberland, and each player was rewarded with all-district honors. The DeKalb County Tigers played spoiler in the District Tournament, as they eliminated Macon County and were within a single possession of knocking off Cannon County. High School Playbook: York Institute Earns Double-Bye After Solid Regular Season

All five York Institute starters receive recognition and earn district honors.

Every week on The High School Playbook, we break down high school games from around the Upper Cumberland. The White County Warriorettes have punched their ticket to the region tournament, after a win that Head Coach Michael Dodgen said was the first one he’d seen in weeks where he thought his team was having fun. The York Institute Dragons earned a double-bye after a solid regular season that saw all five starters on their team earn district honors. While he sees them everyday in practice Head Coach Russell Tays likes that other coaches also give them that recognition. The DeKalb County Tigers had three players earn all-district honors, and Head Coach John Sanders was appreciative of the fact that their hard work was rewarded by other coaches.
