Federal judge dismisses Trump classified documents case

Federal Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, threw out the case against former President Donald Trump and two associates for allegedly mishandling classified material after FBI agents recovered documents in his Mar-a-Lago estate. Cannon ruled that special counsel Jack Smith never had the authority to bring the case because he wasn’t properly appointed under federal law. The special counsel said it would appeal. Source
