Celebrate Cookeville’s Red White & Boom Celebration with the Old Walton Road Chapter of DAR. It’s Chalk It Up For America, Sunday July 3rd from 11:00am to 5:00pm. Broad Street downtown from the Post Office to the Library will be transformed into a giant pavement chalk art exhibit.
Registration takes place in front of City Hall from 11:00am-3:00pm. The street will be sectioned off into squares for you to show off your abilities – and you will be given a square at registration. You will be directed to a numbered square at registration. Each participant will be given one 24-color pack of chalk and assigned a chalk-block work space. Awards will be announced at 5:30pm.
Artists ages 6 and up are invited to create their best patriotic chalk artwork during Cookeville’s 4th of July Celebration. All artwork should be viewable by all age groups, no political propaganda of any kind, and any representations of the Flag of the United States of America should be respectful in nature.
Prizes will be awarded in the Youth Division (ages 6-12), Teen Division (13-17) and Adult Division (18+). A team/organization division will also be awarded. School Teams, Clubs, or Civic Organizations can register for a team to consist of a maximum of 10 members. Teams will be given one 48-color pack of chalk and assigned a chalk block work space. Teams are welcome to bring extra chalk, pastels, and blending tools if they wish, but NO variety of paint is to be used.
Gather friends, bring your imagination and pick up a piece of chalk. Chalk It Up for America, presented by the Old Walton Road Chapter of DAR.
