9 O Clock News Local Edition – Gretchen’s Wheel Revisited

Name: Gretchens Wheel

Genre: Alternative

It started as a desire to sing and turned into a full international project. Lindsay came from a musical family and for a while stretched into the area of classical and even opera. While she enjoys these stylings, her guitar and her songwriting back her back to her other loves like the Posies. After sending one of their members, Ken Stringfellow an improptu video of her covering their songs, he offered to produce her record. Working from his studio over seas, using file sharing and a trip stateside, the two managed to release that disc earlier this year. She has also been working on a follow up and relying on fans input. While they may be a newer band, the experience among it’s members is certainly not. Playing in various band and being a part of the local music scene in the Upper Cumberland over the past several years, Atomic Dogs feature a group of guys with a clear passion for the music they make. Having found a way to let all of their influences shine through without overshadowing their own sound. Employing the three guitar sound that helped shape the land scape of classic rock, they combine harmonies and melodies of classic country and bluegrass influences that are woven into their original material. Stone Senate have a sound that seems both familiar and unique to their crowds, which they draw with venues around Nashville, where they call home, to places farther away. The current version of the Chuck Elliot Band features members that Chuck met after his move to Tennessee. Picking some of what he views as very talented writers as well as performers. The band has put material together for their first full album. They also take time to perform at least once a month in the area. Genre: Post Hardcore/Progressive Metal

With most of their members having around 20 years of making music in the middle Tennessee music scene, Horava has grown their sound to represent the style they find expresses their passions.  Fitting into the heavier rock sound of post hardcore, their songs are based on dystopian themes and reflect their views on various topics. Four guys who not only make their music, but help others make it too by running a production studio.  With a passion for rock that is influenced with alternative and heavier sounding bands, they began to forge their own sound that embodies those influences but was their own.  With a few member changes and instrument changes, they are now focused on going from creating the music to sharing it live and online. Having been in the Upper Cumberland making and sharing music for the past 30 years, Tepoe would be considered one of the veteran rockers of the local music scene. He has played with various acts over the years and is now content making music on his own. His music isn’t targeted to just local audiences as he has pushed onto the internet and into various markets around the globe.  He is responsible for trying to help others learn to play with his patented computerized training guitar.
