Today In The Upper Cumberland Podcast: Medical Marijuana

Tennessee will likely examine the issue of medical marijuana during the coming year as two legislators have introduced a bill to provide for the legal use of cannabis for medical reasons. A Tennessee woman has seen first hand what medical marijuana can do for those suffering with diseases and medical issues.

Dana M. Arvidson is the founding member of The International Women’s Cannabis Coalition.

High School Playbook: TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl And A Visit From Clay County

It’s the final installment of the High School Play for the 2016 season. Schools across the state have gathered in Cookeville for the TSSAA Blue Cross Bowl. We’ll hear how the tournament is progressing as well as where the tournament will go after this year. Also joining Larry Stone at Chick-fi-La, Interstate Drive, Cookeville this week is Clay County’s Basketball Coach Rob Edwards as well as several senior members of the Clay County Boy’s Basketball team.

High School Playbook: Basketball Talk With The Cookeville Cavaliers And Jackson County Blue Devils

Basketball season is underway in the Upper Cumberland. The Cookeville Cavaliers’ Coach joins Larry Stone this week live from Chick-fi-La, Interstate Drive, Cookeville, along with several members of the Cookeville Cavaliers Girl Basketball Team. A couple of Jackson County Boys Basketball Team members also pay Larry a visit to talk Friday night’s game. We’ll also hear from DeKalb and White County’s teams on how the season is going for them so far.

Joining Larry Stone this week at Chick-fi-La, Interstate Drive, Cookeville, is Upperman Bee’s Coach Dana McWilliams as well as several members of the Upperman Girls Basketball Team. Joining over the phone, York Institute’s Russell Tays shares how his team is getting ready to take on the season. Also announced, the football and basketball realignment schedules are live. 9 O Clock News Local Edition – Gretchen’s Wheel Revisited

Name: Gretchens Wheel

Genre: Alternative

It started as a desire to sing and turned into a full international project. Lindsay came from a musical family and for a while stretched into the area of classical and even opera. While she enjoys these stylings, her guitar and her songwriting back her back to her other loves like the Posies. After sending one of their members, Ken Stringfellow an improptu video of her covering their songs, he offered to produce her record. Working from his studio over seas, using file sharing and a trip stateside, the two managed to release that disc earlier this year. She has also been working on a follow up and relying on fans input. While they may be a newer band, the experience among it’s members is certainly not. Playing in various band and being a part of the local music scene in the Upper Cumberland over the past several years, Atomic Dogs feature a group of guys with a clear passion for the music they make. Andrew is a songwriter first and performer second, he’s been making music in groups and solo around the Nashville for a few years. Having worked with the group Mellow Down Easy before pursuing the solo side of making music, Andrew has quite a few influences reflected in his music. Hailing from Smyrna and performing mostly around the Nashville area, Cryptic Calling return to talk about the release of their self titled debut and plans for performing and writing more material. With a start in metal bands, they’ve shifted towards more of a mainstream rock sound whose early influences shine through in their music.
